Notion AI Agent: Connect Notion's Official MCP Server in One Sign-In

BetterClaw connects to Notion through Notion's own official MCP server. You sign in with Notion, choose which pages the agent can see, and it can then search your workspace, read and create pages, add rows to databases and leave comments. Every tool is labelled Read, Write or Destructive, and you can switch tools off one at a time or make the whole server read-only. There's no server to run and no URL to paste.

How to connect Notion to an AI agent

  1. 1

In BetterClaw, open Connectors in the left rail and stay on Browse connectors.

    Search for "Notion".

It shows as an official MCP server card, so there's no URL to paste.

You approve access on Notion's own screen and come back to BetterClaw.

What can the agent access in Notion? Is it safe?

ReadWriteDestructive

Notion's official MCP server includes tools to search the workspace, fetch pages, query database data sources, create pages, update pages, create comments and upload files. In BetterClaw, each tool carries a Read, Write or Destructive label, and you can switch any of them off, or set the whole server to Read-only. If Notion adds or changes tools, BetterClaw pauses the server until you select Review & approve, so nothing new runs without you seeing it. Notion's own Enterprise plan adds admin controls over which MCP clients may connect.

Your credentials are stored encrypted and your agents never see them. You can disconnect an account at any time from Connectors, and remove an agent's access without disconnecting the account.

Notion MCP server: do you need it?

This page is about the MCP route: BetterClaw uses Notion's hosted server at mcp.notion.com, so new Notion connections always go through it. Compared with running a Notion MCP server yourself (with OpenClaw, Hermes or Claude Desktop), there's nothing to install or keep updated, and the per-tool switches and 30-day Activity log are built in. Developers can find the tool handle format in the docs, for example mcp__notion__notion_search.

Notion AI agent: common questions

How do I connect Notion to an AI agent?

In BetterClaw, open Connectors, search for Notion and sign in. Choose the pages to share, review the tools and pick which agents can use it. It takes about two minutes.

Does this use the official Notion MCP server?

Yes. BetterClaw connects to Notion's hosted MCP server, and every new Notion connection uses it.

Can I make the agent read-only in Notion?

Yes. Turn on Read-only mode for the server, or switch off individual Write and Destructive tools.

How is this different from Notion AI agents?

Notion's agents work inside Notion. A BetterClaw agent works across Notion and your other tools, for example reading Gmail, filing a Notion page and posting to Slack in one job.

I set up Notion MCP in OpenClaw or Hermes. Why switch?

No config files, tokens or server to keep running, and you get per-tool controls and an activity log without extra work.

Connect Notion and give your agent its first job.

Sign in once, pick a ready-made workflow or describe your own, and your agent does the rest.
