BetterClaw Setup Guide
Step-by-step walkthroughs for setting up your agent. Pick a guide and get up and running in minutes.
What these guides cover
Each guide takes one setup task from start to finish: connecting a channel, connecting an inbox, or adding a skill. BetterClaw has Telegram, Slack, Discord and Gmail built in, plus webhooks and 120+ connectors, and your agents can use unlimited skills. The guides below cover the built-in channels and custom skills, and the cards further down preview the steps in each one.
Start with whichever channel your team already uses. For Telegram, generate the bot token first, then follow the integration guide. Slack needs no bot of your own, so it is the quickest path to a working agent.
| Guide | What it's for | Time |
|---|---|---|
| How to Install Custom Skills | Adding your own skills: store API keys in Secrets, upload the skill file, assign it to an agent, and audit credential use in Access History. | About 5 minutes |
| How to Generate a Telegram Bot Token | Creating a Telegram bot in BotFather and saving its token in BetterClaw. Do this before the Telegram integration guide. | About 2 minutes |
| How to Integrate Telegram with BetterClaw | Linking that Telegram bot to an agent, allowlisting who can talk to it, and testing the connection. | About 3 minutes |
| How to Connect Your Agent to Discord | Putting an agent in a Discord server: create the bot, enable Message Content Intent, paste the token, invite it. | About 5 minutes |
| How to Connect Your Agent to Slack | Putting an agent in a Slack workspace with one-click OAuth, then testing it in a DM or channel mention. | About 2 minutes |
| Connect BetterClaw with Your Gmail | Letting an agent read, search, summarize and send email through a Google App Password over IMAP and SMTP. | About 5 minutes |
Times are hands-on setup time as stated in each guide, not reading time.
