Slack AI Agent: Talk to Your Agent in Slack and Let It Post for You

BetterClaw works with Slack in two ways. As a chat channel, your agent joins Slack as a bot: DM it or @mention it in a channel and it answers using its skills and connected tools. As a connector, an agent can post updates, search messages and read threads, so workflows like daily standups and error summaries land in the right channel. Most teams use both.

What can an AI agent do in Slack?

Here are the jobs teams hand to a BetterClaw agent in Slack. The names under each one are the Slack actions the agent uses, so you can see exactly what it touches.

1

Chat with your agent where you work

DM the bot or @mention it in a channel, and it replies using everything it's connected to.

2

Daily standups without the meeting

What can the agent access in Slack? Is it safe?

ReadWriteDestructive

The Slack connector's catalog includes reading (history, threads, search, users), writing (send, schedule, update messages, canvases, files, reactions) and admin or destructive actions (delete messages or channels, archive, manage users). The ready-made workflows only post messages to the channel you name. For the chat bot, you control who can message it.

Your credentials are stored encrypted and your agents never see them. You can disconnect an account at any time from Connectors, and remove an agent's access without disconnecting the account.

Slack MCP server: do you need it?

Slack runs an official MCP server, but Slack only lets directory-published apps and approved internal apps connect to it. For BetterClaw, the Slack bot and the Slack connector are the supported routes.

Slack AI agent: common questions

How do I add an AI agent to Slack?

In BetterClaw, go to Settings ▸ Integrations ▸ Connect Slack bot, pick the agent and approve in Slack. Then DM the bot or @mention it in a channel.

Can I control who talks to the bot?

Can one agent post to Slack on a schedule?
